Marti D. Humphrey CAS is the CEO and Chief Re-Recording Mixer of The Dub Stage.
Over his career Marti has worked with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business. Marti’s love for sound began in childhood when he recorded The Beatles to his reel-to-reel during their original appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
In High School, Marti crafted a sound system that rivaled his peers, and that tradition has continued today.
The 38-year Hollywood Post Production Sound veteran started his career in 1980 at Complete Post. There he worked closely with his mentor, Ed Greene. In 1986 Marti was pursued by Modern Videofilm and soon became one of the busiest Re-Recording Mixers in the industry. In 1991 Sony Pictures built Marti a new two-man, state of the art dub stage. There he expanded his work to include single camera episodic Television. He won two Emmy Awards while he was at Sony Pictures. After 6 years at Sony, Marti moved over to 4MC/Todd AO. In 1999 Buena Vista / Disney recruited Marti.
In 2001 Marti established The Dub Stage. Here began using Pro Tools and mixing in the box long before it became the norm. In 2004 Marti opened The Dub Stage in its current location. He has mixed both high profile feature films and television series at this Burbank location.
He opened the first Immersive Dub Stage in Hollywood with Auro-3D 11.1 in 2012 and then followed with the world’s first DTS X room. In 2016 he installed Dolby Atmos and IMAX. The IMAX 12.0 stage was the second one in Hollywood and The Dub Stage is the only permanent Immersive Stage that can handle four immersive formats: Dolby Atmos, IMAX 12.0/6.0, DTS X and Auro and simultaneously switch between them.
Marti has been married to his wife, Lori, for 36 years. He has two adult children and four grandchildren. His passions are sound mixing, his family and ice hockey.
